Local Day Care Expands Services to Meet the Needs of Midlothian Parents

Aug 5, 2020

Midlothian's trusted name in child care since 2004 - Bright Ideas Enrichment Center (previously Midlothian Children's Academy) - has recently expanded its services to accommodate working families with school age children for the 2020/2021 school year.

Deborah Brown, Director – stated, “As an essential service provider, we have worked diligently to remain open for front-line workers needing child care throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. When our local schools announced their upcoming school year plans of initially remaining virtual, we immediately started receiving phone calls from anxious parents concerned with finding appropriate care for their children while they worked all day. We knew we had to help.”

Bright Ideas equipped their team with the tools necessary to offer virtual learning assistance to students ages 5 through 11 years old. They are rearranging their open classrooms to accommodate social distanced study tables and create an environment conducive to virtual learning. “Thankfully we have a very large facility with Wi-Fi, study nooks and ample space both indoors and out. In addition to the virtual school day, we will also offer students enriching programs, and fun activities, too. It is important to give the students a sense of normalcy. I think it will give parents peace of mind, too” said Brown. The new Virtual Assistance Learning program will begin September 8th.

Bright Ideas will only accept a limited number of students into the program in order to maintain safe, small classes. They have implemented increased disinfection measures as recommended by all governmental, licensing, and health organizations. Their hours will be 6:30am until 6:30pm Monday through Friday and will continue to provide their normal child care services for children (ages 6 weeks to five years old). Discounts will be given to families with siblings attending the center.
